With intense action and a decent storyline this anime has in itself for great success but that is to be determined by the fans.

Last weekend I posted the script for the movie adaption of Akira, and now I bring you movie stills, movie poster, and the synopsis for Blood: The Last Vampire. It must be christmas already!

I was ridiculously excited when I saw these stills for the upcoming live action movie adaption of Blood: The Last Vampire. It was one of the first anime movies I bought in my “youthful years”, and has remained amoung my favorite anime films. I am surprised no one has talked about this upcoming movie adaption. Plot Summary: On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old “halfling.” Born to a human father and a vampire mother, she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts. When she is sent onto an American military base in Tokyo by the clandestine organization she works for, Saya immediately senses that this may be her opportunity to finally destroy Onigen, the evil patriarch of all vampires. Using her superhman strength and her sword, she begins to rid the base of its evil infestation in a series of spectacular and elaborate showdowns. However, it is not until she forms her first human friendship in centuries with the young daughter of the base’s general that Saya learns of her greatest power over Onigen may well be her ability for human connection…    (via shock till you drop)

The Game
Anyone who is familiar with the work of Orson Scott Card should know of his book Ender’s Game. Now I have read almost everything dealing with the Enderverse, yeah that’s what he calls it, so a while ago Chair Entertainment announced that they again are working with Mr. Card, but this time they are working together to make a game that is based off of Ender’s Game. So far there aren’t that many details about the game but it will be developed using the Unreal 3 Engine, and it will be centered on the Battle Room.

The Movie

As above, whoever is familiar with the Enderverse may or may not know that they are currently working on a script for a movie that is based on Ender’s Game and Ender’s Shadow. According to IMDB the movie is currently “In Production.”

If you are at all curious / pissed / excited / concerned with this news, you might be happy to read the generally faithful script that Latino Review has posted of the movie. Now this script is by no means final, so don’t take this word for word, but it should give you a good idea of what to expect.

The story takes place in a burgeoning new metropolis of the future, several years after a cataclysmic event destroyed the old city that once stood in its place. Unbeknownst to most of the populace, the real cause of the event was a small boy with incredible psychic powers, part of a top secret government program attempting to harness such so called “Espers” as weapons. The project is deemed too dangerous, and the young boy – AKIRA – is put in cryogenic stasis in a secret underground facility to prevent such a disaster from ever occurring again. In probably the most significant change and the only one that really bugged me, the events of this version are shifted from Tokyo to New York – but after the city is destroyed and the United States’ economy collapses, burgeoning superpower Japan buys the devastated island to construct a new city to house their ever expanding population. So the film will still technically be set in New Tokyo, but on the island of Manhattan, and with about half the characters being American and the rest remaining Japanese. It’s a somewhat odd way of appealing to American audiences and fans alike, and feels somewhat awkward, but does allow for some up to date political commentary.

In the ruins of the surrounding boroughs live KANEDA and TRAVIS, two young men who became good friends after being orphaned by the disaster and have since looked out for each other. They are now part of a biker gang called the Red Devils, which tries to maintain the peace in the lawless, neglected, impoverished outskirts they call home. KANEDA is the cocky leader, like a big brother to restless TRAVIS. Following a run-in with a rival gang and a chance encounter with some people smuggling a strange young boy out of the city, TRAVIS inadvertently unlocks dormant psychic abilities and KANEDA gets involved in a resistance movement attempting to stop the resurrected Espers research program, headed by the military and Vanguard, a Blackwater-esque private military contractor. SHACKLETON, an army colonel who was part of the original experiments, mainly wants to contain these powerful psychics and protect the city, while NELLIS, defense secretary in the pocket of Vanguard, wants to restart the weapons development side of the program.

With the help of his new allies RAY, former Vanguard employee and leader of the resistance, and KAY, one of their former test subjects, Kaneda attempts to rescue Travis, who has been taken into custody by Shackleton and his team. Travis’ new powers are so powerful that they awaken the mind of the sleeping Akira, and Shackleton fears a repeat of the cataclysmic event that destroyed the city so many years before. Travis finds himself inexplicably drawn to Akira, and, his ego and powers spiraling out of control, he escapes from captivity and goes on a rampage of destruction trying to reach the secret facility where Akira is kept. The story becomes a race to stop him – Kaneda, Kay, and Travis’ girlfriend KAORI wanting to bring him back alive and sane, and Shackleton intent on destroying him to prevent another apocalyptic event. True to the epic scope of the original, this is only part one of two planned movies, so the script ends with a huge but intriguing cliffhanger.

My main problem is the name change from Tetsuo to TRAVIS (really? Travis?) and that the movie now takes place in the United States instead of Japan, but to be honest those changes aren’t that bad. Just something a fanboy like me will cry about.

It seems god has given me a another chance with 50 Cent’s second venture into gaming: “50 Cent: Blood on the Sand”.

And what is the plot to this delicious mix of rap, gangsters, terrorist stereotypes, bullets, rockets, and more rap? This is what gamespot.com has listed under the game’s synopsis.

“50 Cent and G-Unit are hunting down the gangsters who stole their diamond-encrusted skull.” Yeah…that’s it.

That’s how gangster 50 Cent is. You steel from him, and he will come to your country and take on your whole terrorist cell. Solid Snake ain’t got nothin on Fiddy.

The first set of promo photos for upcoming movie adaption of Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass have been released. Only 2 photos for now, but we will certainly take what we can get. I also added a pic below of the comic to compare the costume from comic to movie.

The costume is very faithful to the comic, aside from the mouth area. I am guessing they had to keep the mouth area open to capture more emotion from the actor. Kind of like Optimus Prime in the Transformers movie.

It looks great. With Rorschach almost narrorating the trailer, it gives a good idea of what the movie is about. I am also glad we got to see Dr. Manhattan (the blue glowy guy) talk. I was curious to see how his voice sounded. Surprisngly it sounds normal. I was expecting sone kinda echo voice or high and low mixed together.

Ah yes, some day. Until then, I can always plan my movie poster collection that will be in the great hall, and these new Watchmen posters are definitely  gonna be among the select few.

I just got done reading Book 1 in the Devashard series, its pretty sweet. All the panels are drawn out more like scenes from a movie. While reading the book, I felt like I was actually watching everything happen in motion. Very well done, they have an amazing team of artist working on the book, as well as a great writing team.
