I’ll be the first to say that I am not into the testosterone filled 2D fighter scene. Every guy in there late 20’s to mid 40’s talks about the good old days of going to the arcade and slamming their quarter on the screen to throw down against some button masher. It sounds like a nerd’s equivalent of a present day virtual roman gladiator arena. I kind of wish I was born a little earlier to experience those days. Now with Street Fighter II HD hitting the game consoles and SF 4 about to launch, all the old arcade gamers are getting their pants wet with excitement. I have to say I am not really on the bandwagon with them. Like I said, that scene was before my time.
HOWEVER! I just saw the trailer for King of Fighters XII and I was blown away by the graphic quality and animations. I am not saying I am committed to buying the game, but I definitely want to try my hand at it.
Check out the trailer.
It’s funny how the characters share some of the same moves as the Street Fighter characters. I know there is a history to explain why that is, but I can’t remember it right now.
I got to play a lot of Left 4 Dead over this past thanksgiving day weekend, so it is safe to say I have a fresh addiction to all things Valve again. Little did I know I would be teased this morning with a trailer to a Half-Life 1 remake titled Black Mesa. The remake is not an official Valve title, but rather a Half-Life 2 mod that only requires you to have one source engine game installed from Valve’s content delivery system, STEAM.
Check out the trailer.
Check out Black Mesa’s website to read up on the development blog and check out high resolution screens of the game. The address is blackmesasource.com
Oh and also, since it is not an official Valve title, that means it is free to everyone. Woot!
Just a small bit of news coming in for fans of Ender’s Game.
The Game
Anyone who is familiar with the work of Orson Scott Card should know of his book Ender’s Game. Now I have read almost everything dealing with the Enderverse, yeah that’s what he calls it, so a while ago Chair Entertainment announced that they again are working with Mr. Card, but this time they are working together to make a game that is based off of Ender’s Game. So far there aren’t that many details about the game but it will be developed using the Unreal 3 Engine, and it will be centered on the Battle Room.
The Movie
As above, whoever is familiar with the Enderverse may or may not know that they are currently working on a script for a movie that is based on Ender’s Game and Ender’s Shadow. According to IMDB the movie is currently “In Production.”
That’s all the info we have now, but check back here periodically for more developing news.
Unfortunately at the time when 50 Cent’s first game came out (50 Cent: Bulletproof), I was unable to obtain it due to lack of funds. Not that I was in desprate need of it, I just wanted it for the “LOL WTF” value.
It seems god has given me a another chance with 50 Cent’s second venture into gaming: “50 Cent: Blood on the Sand”.
And what is the plot to this delicious mix of rap, gangsters, terrorist stereotypes, bullets, rockets, and more rap? This is what gamespot.com has listed under the game’s synopsis.
“50 Cent and G-Unit are hunting down the gangsters who stole their diamond-encrusted skull.” Yeah…that’s it.
Now watch the preview.
That’s how gangster 50 Cent is. You steel from him, and he will come to your country and take on your whole terrorist cell. Solid Snake ain’t got nothin on Fiddy.

PS3 owners will have to wait until Duke Nukem Forever is released to access PlayStation Home.
I’m sure by now all you PlayStation 3 owners have already ran to the store, beat threw a couple people and picked up your copy of Little Big Planet. This adorable little game has been making shock waves in the game industry and its pretty obvious why. The game carries a great story, concept and most importantly, great user-created content. The reason I bring this up is because while surfing the web, I found this cute little video!
While I admit its clever, cant we all get along? Whats with this big console war? PS3 has Sackboy, the 360 has Master Chief and the Wii…well..I don’t know. Mario?
Listen, I’m a huge Call of Duty fan, hands down, but I’m an even bigger zombie fan. So when I found out that the new Call of Duty: World of War would include a co-op zombie slaughter-mode, I nearly wet myself…seriously. Over the weekend it was released to the public that after players completed the games campaign mode a co-op zombie slaughter-mode, similar to that of Gears of War 2’s “horde” mode, would be unlocked.

Four players will be faced with an unlimited onslaught of zombies in a dark, extremely creepy building. Players will have access to a variety of weapons and will be able to board up open windows in order to avoid their impending doom. Most excitingly for some of you hardcore COD4 fans is the return of the infamous Last Stand mode. When knocked down by a zombie, you will enter last stand mode and fight the zombie invaders from your back. Friends can revive you, but depending on how far your in, that could prove to be extremely difficult. Well, I’m gonna go start prepping for the zombie apocalypse . Resistance is futile. Peace.
*update* The song in the trailer is called “How It Ends” by the band DeVotchKa
Gears of War is a hardcore testosterone filled game. So needless to say when the first Mad World themed trailer came out for GOW2, I was a bit surprised, but it worked SO WELL!
Now a new trailer has come out another great song (I can’t find the song’s artist, sorry), and I have to say that it makes me want to play the game now.
Here is the old Mad World trailer, case you missed it.

I did play the first GOW, and I was un-decided with my feelings on it. I sorta liked the story and I sorta liked the game play, but I HATED the clunky controls. I stoped playing after the first berserker boss because the controls kept doing the opposite of what I wanted (I did beat the boss). I guess I could give it another go, my Assassin’s Creed needs trading in anyway :3
So lately, there’s been talk of a new MMO coming out based on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The new game from developer Bioware, takes place about three hundred years after the KOTOR I and II games. The game will feature a different kind of art style which won’t be totally realistic but at the same time won’t be very cartoonish either.
As shown here:
The idea behind this type of art work is that they want a type of artwork that sets this game apart from other MMO’s. Also, the theory is that this way they will be able to run the game on many different machines without sacrificing graphics.
Another thing that I found interesting in Kotaku’s article on this was that the game is going to be very story oriented. Unlike other games which just have missions for the sake of missions, this game is going to have stories set by classes. Every class will have its own unique story that can be played out in various ways. No two people will have the same story this way, at least in theory.
You also get a companion character or a few of them throughout the game and you the way you make your choices influences the way the characters around you react. They’ll either encourage your behavior or flip out when you do something like if you were to say, Force Lightning a character to death.
Also the game will tie up some loose ends from the first two games, if you’re looking for it. Bioware doesn’t want to rub that in people’s faces if they’ve never played them before.
As per the true KOTOR way, you’re neither good or evil in the beginning. You choose a faction off the bat: Republic or Sith. And from there your choices throughout the game will ultimately influence your path to the light or the dark sides.
I’m really looking forward to this game coming out and I hope you are too. As always faithful readers, keep it here for more information on The Old Republic. Same Nerd Fellowship time, same Nerd Fellowship channel.
