The world’s largest record collection owned by one man has an estimated worth of $50 million. The collection is owned by Paul Mawhinney, and his asking price is only $3 million. Due to declining health issues, Paul has been forced with the emotionally grueling task of giving up what he has dedicated his whole life to. In an age where no one really cares about vintage records and hard copy music, Paul’s struggle to sell off the store has become more difficult then he imagined.
The video below is a short interview with Paul and (I assume) his wife, talking about the history and dilemma of the record archive.
It is touching to see someone with Paul’s passion, having to give up something he obviously loves endlessly. Especially when he knows who ever he hands it off to will probably never care for it as much as he does. Where are all the big $$$ spenders? Come on, really? Elton John? Paul McCartney? Barry Gordy? No one?
Hopefully after this video has spread, word will get out to people in much better financial situations, and maybe the archive will be passed on to a good owner.
We have been kind of dry since Comic-Con started. I apologize for that. We should be getting back into the swing of things tomorrow. I had to play catch up with a few things today so it left little time to post.
So during Comic-Con, the folks at Xbox Live picked me out of the crowd for my costume and asked me to do a little video for them. You can check it out here
