Has anyone seen this yet? I heard Microsoft was planning their own set of commercials to combat that Apple commercials that have been running for some time now. To bring some batting power to the plate, Microsoft decided to hire everyone’s favorite comedian Jerry Seinfeld. Sounds like a cool idea right? What could go wrong? Seinfeld has had a pretty good commercial track record so far.
Take a look at attempt 1.

Dare I ask “What the hell was that?” in fear of Microsoft sending it’s Balmer virus to my computer? Wait yes I do, because I am on my MacBook right now. Ha!
So yeah, it is interesting…but I really don’t see how this would make me want to buy Windows. If you know who Bill Gates is, and think this commercial is up your alley, then chances are you already use a PC running windows. Oh well, I am ready for the second serving now.

Yup, you read correctly, Microsoft is openly blogging the development of the new windows platform, Windows 7. And its the actual developers that are blogging about it to boot! Microsoft plans on sporadic blog posts and updates on the progress of windows, but isn’t going to commit to them regularly. Just be glad Microsoft is openly developing the new windows platform with user input, and its about damn time they did it!! Its still in the earlier stages of development and nothings concrete yet except a small list of features.
So you think, “That is all fine and dandy, but that doesn’t change anything.” Oh but it does, the developers are reading comments and taking notes now, which basically means they are incorporating user requests on their forums for how the new windows should run as well as what features the new windows should include, most notably being the start up process since Steve Sinofsky, one of two beloved bloggers, talks about it in his second post.
Features, one might ask, and here is what we have so far:
- Applets and Gadgets
- Assistance and Support Technologies
- Core User Experience
- Customer Engineering and Telemetry
- Deployment and Component Platform
- Desktop Graphics
- Devices and Media
- Devices and Storage
- Documents and Printing
- Engineering System and Tools
- File System
- Find and Organize
- Fundamentals
- Internet Explorer (including IE 8 down-level)
- International
- Kernel & VM
- Media Center
- Networking - Core
- Networking - Enterprise
- Networking - Wireless
- Security
- User Interface Platform
- Windows App Platform
As most people can see from just seeing this list, Windows 7 is far from being finished. Its in the early stages of development as all the teams of 30 - 40 people work on their separate projects and collaborate on whats going to be included in the new Operating system and how its going to be implemented. So get your read on and hop over to the developer blog below and add your two cents!

You may have already seen this, the whole Windows Mojave experiment.

I like how everyone has such blind hate for windows vista. I will be honest, I used vista back when it first came out. I had crashes constantly…but I knew it was starter bugs. I have not tried it since I reverted to XP but I am not entirely put off from the vista experince. Hopefully they fixed the issues I had with the new service pack. All that I really cared about was that my After Effects couldn’t work properly without theme settings turned off (wth mate?).
Here are some classic videos regarding windows vista
