Hot Shot/Basketball Fire is a new TW drama that begun airing July 27th starring Jerry Yan, Alan Luo, Zhou Cai Shi, Coco Jiang, and Wu Chun.

The plot follows Da Ying(Alan Luo), a guy who loves Basketball with a passion and believes he is the greatest player of all time, despite the fact that he has never played a Basketball game in his entire life. Undeterred by his lack of experience, an unfortunate event leads him to Pi Li, a college with the reputation of having the worst Basketball team in history. They’ve even been labeled the “Pi Li 5 Losers”. Dong Fang Xiang (Jerry Yan), is a legendary Basketball player with great skill that decides to transfer to Pi Li because he does not want to play Basketball anymore. Unfortunately for him, Da Ying plans to resurrect Pi Li’s Basketball team with the help of the new head coach W (Coco Jiang), an ex NBA consultant, and forces Dong Fang Xiang to join.

I’ve only seen 3 episodes of this series but so far, I’m loving it! I don’t usually enjoy dramas about sports, but this one is just so hilarious and somewhat over the top. It might as well be called ‘Kung Fu Basketball’. Warrior God Dong Fang Xiang (that’s his nickname in the show) perform some crazy Basketball tricks with some pretty crazy names like “Relentless Flying Dragon style Dunk”. The interaction between Alan Luo’s character and Jerry Yan is hilarious and well worth watching the show for.

This drama is funny, quirky, and interesting to watch. The story line seems to be getting pretty complex, since there are some mystery characters who we don’t really know much about helping Da Ying and challenging Dong Fang Xiang in Basketball. I am definitely going to watch this series to the end!You should too, if you know what’s good for you!
